What’s the big deal with pressure-treated wood?

The materials used in any remodeling/construction project should be of a high quality. If you’re investing in a project you want to last that involves wood, then pressure-treated wood can be the way to go. As the name suggests, this type of wood has undergone treatment to boost its longevity and withstand the elements. When exposed to the elements, regular wood is affected by rainwater in the forms of fungus and rot. Meanwhile, pressure-treated wood preserves the wood’s natural beauty. This makes it a great option for outdoor projects that will be exposed to weather.

The North American Deck and Railing Association also advocates for treated wood. According to the organization, “treated wood is enhanced with preservatives that helps it last longer while maintaining its natural beauty...contractors and builders also choose treated wood because it looks beautiful, is affordable, and easy to work with and maintain.”

Pressure-treated wood can bring your remodeling project to the standard you envision, and the durability you deserve. However, it is important to consider all the components of your renovation before moving forward. Pressure-treated wood is not a good mix with aluminum flashing, as it can cause the latter to corrode due to the preservatives present in the wood. Here at Fine Remodeling we are your Delaware contractor experienced with handling this type of wood and we know of the precautions to be taken.
